Interview with Victoria Truong
This interview between Victoria Truong and Kaitlyn Kim explore Truong’s personal experiences and perspectives on immigration, highlighting the adversity of leaving a communist country in search of a better life. Truong discussed her experiences as a Vietnamese refugee in the US throughout her childhood, young adulthood, and adult life. She shares stories about her family dynamics and her difficult upbringing due to her socioeconomic status. Her strong belief in freedom and opportunity explains her appreciativeness for America, and throughout the interview Truong reiterates how she is grateful for where she is today, despite all the hardships she has faced.

Interview of Fucheng Li
This interview with Fucheng Li goes over his life experiences as an immigrant to the United States from Guangdong, China. Fucheng immigrated to the U.S. in 2012 at the age of 12, after his father immigrated to the U.S. 25 years prior due to a work opportunity. A major part of Fucheng’s life has been schooling, so he discusses the differences in education between China and the U.S. In addition, his past life in China allows him to comment on cultural and societal norms/practices surrounding his community in China. His experiences as an immigrant may be applicable to and even assist other immigrant children adapting to life in the United States, especially those who do not have a comprehensive grasp on English.

Interview of Huaying Chen
This interview of Huaying Chen, a Chinese immigrant to the United States, details Huaying's early life in China following the Cultural Revolution. Huaying discusses Chinese politics, education, and the 1989 student movement and Tiananmen Massacre. She also discusses the culture shock she experienced when moving to the United States.

Interview of Bori Cosson
In this interview, Bori Cosson describes her escape from communism. She was sixteen years old when her and her mother embarked on a two-and-a-half-month journey to flee from Hungary to America. Her story is shocking, inspiring, and surprisingly funny. Once in America, she finished high school, started a family, and became an entrepreneur. Although she admits to missing Hungary’s people, geography and food, she admires the endless opportunities America has given her for independence, and you can tell she feels a strong sense of pride in both her countries.
