Interview of Nico Alvarez
This interview between Nico Alvarez and Dercem (Derc) Kaya explores Nico's experiences migrating as a child from Spain the United States. Nico discusses his experiences in school, his observations on cultural differences between Spain and the U.S., his parents' careers (which brought them to the U.S.), and the decision and ability to stay in the U.S. once his family moved back to Spain.

Interview of Bebe Lila Spooner Melville
This interview between Bebe Lila Spooner Melville and Hannah Fields explores Melville's experiences as an immigrant to the United States from Guyana. As a teacher and government employee, Lila witnessed the racial and political conflict that enveloped her country and eventually forced her to leave as part of a mass exodus in the early 1980s.

Interview of Norma
This interview between Kendall Ohm and Norma (pseudonym) explores Norma’s experience as an immigrant to the United States from Mexico City. When Norma was just one year old, her family relocated to California to join her father who had been working in the country. When she was eight, they returned to Mexico City, citing a desire to be closer to the rest of their extended family. After middle school, they again relocated to the United States-this time to Rockville, Maryland-because her father could no longer find sustainable work in Mexico. This interview investigates the challenges that Norma faced throughout her childhood, and exemplifies the unique experience she brings to the discussion on the immigrant experience.

Interview of Anabel Teixeira
This interview between Nicole Kerr and Anabel Teixeira explores Teixeira's experiences as an immigrant to the United States from Brazil. The majority of oral history interviews focus on the experiences of immigrants who choose to become citizens of the United States. This interview follows an alternate route; it examines the effects of automatic acquisition of citizenship, specifically on the experience of a 21-year-old Brazilian immigrant named Anabel Teixeira.

Interview of Regine Dunlap
The following is a transcript of an interview of Regine Dunlap by her son, Kevin Dunlap, that took place on October 11, 2015 in Suitland, Maryland, U.S.A. The interview was done as a class assignment for “Foreigners as Citizens: Recording Oral Histories of Immigration” to record oral histories of immigrants settling in the DC metro area. Over the course of the interview, Kevin asks questions about Mrs. Dunlap’s life in America versus her life in Germany. She responds with some of her experiences in both countries. Kevin also asks her about her immigration to the United States and her reasoning behind settling in the DC metro area. At the end, Mrs. Dunlap talks about some of her political ideas.
